WVU PRSSA has enlisted four seasoned alums with impressive experience to give you first-hand lessons on how to start your career path. These professionals represent a rich and diverse range of experience, geography, and roles. They know how to successfully start and grow a career and have made plenty of mistakes. So, learn what to do and what not to do.

Chad Hyett, Executive Vice President at MCS Healthcare in New Jersey.  He has 20 years of experience and has held senior leadership positions at some of the world’s largest and most respected public relations firms.

Chuck Harman

Chuck Harman, Director of Patient Advocacy, Neurocrine Biosciences.  He has taught at the Reed College for over 20 years and was named the nation’s top adjunct instructor last year and has had a long career in both non-profit and corporate.

Maddie Ernst

Maddie Ernst is a 2019 WVU Strategic Communications graduate and serves as a Communications Associate for Rick Miller Communications, a boutique public relations agency in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to managing two Cincinnati retail accounts, Maddie oversees social media content strategy and creation for a local mental health nonprofit organization.

Brandon Thomas

Brandon Thomas, Vice President and General Manager at PAN Communications in New York City. In his role at PAN, Brandon oversees client relations, office management and new business development for the NY market. He is a graduate of West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media (CoM), a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and currently serves as the Associate Director of DEI for the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
